CWFF 09 wrapped up in fine style last night with the Golden Canary Awards. It’s been an intense, jam-packed but most of all FUN few days, so we just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who was involved.
So, without further ado, the awards went to…
Tweety Canary Award: Samuel Tholley
For special achievement during the 3 days of our Next Generation filmmaking workshop.
UK Canary Award: ‘Noesis’, Dir. Sophie Klevenow
“Beautifully done. Impressive and obviously some talent here.” – Andy Whittaker – Dogwoof Pictures
International Canary Award: ‘¡Nena! / Baby!’, Dir. Lluis Segura
“Charming, hilarious domestic satire. Funny, original, a clear winner for me.” – Larushka Ivan-Zadeh, film editor, Metro newspaper
Sing Like A Canary Award: ‘A Film About Poo’, Dir. Emily Howells & Anne Wilkins
“Loved it! I’ll be singing that song for ages!” – CWFF 09 audience member
The Golden Canary Award: ‘Dear Matthew’, Dir. Keith O’Shea
“A deeply upsetting, emotional and personal doc that really gets across the sense of loss and excrutiating pain the father is going through.” – Eran Creevy
So there you have it. Congratulations to Keith for making such a powerful and affecting film, to all the winners, and to all the other filmmakers featured in the programme. It was undoubtedly our strongest programme yet and everyone had their own personal favourites.
Woo Hoo!
