CWFF HQ Video Blog 18th Aug 2009

It’s the 2nd video blog! And this edition is all about getting involved (we say it about 20 times). First Karen’s here to tell you about CWFF 09’s Pitch Competition, where you could win top prizes like a course at Central Film School AND have your idea heard, considered and analyzed by industry professionals including ‘Shifty’ director Eran Creevy! Learn more HERE.

And Phil and Ursula tell you how to be a part of the CWFF Team by volunteering for CWFF 09. Just send Ursula an email: ursula@cwff.org.uk

CWFF Friend Bonanza on Promo News!

It’s a proud day today as no less than THREE of CWFF’s music vid-directing friends are featured on the front page of Promo News.

There’s Mark Locke’s new promo for Dinosaur Jr, and an interview with the CWFF 08 Music Video Award Winner himself; CWFF 08’s guest director Price James has his new video for The Gossip featured; and there’s Simon Owens‘ intriguing 2-part non-music video for Tiga. Apparently he got the gig because of his “excellent genitalia”. Who are we to doubt it?

So check them all out NOW!

And you can see Mark’s winning vid for UNKLE and Simon’s vid for Man Like Me’s ‘Doughnut’ this Friday 26th June at our last ‘Best Of CWFF’ Screening at Departure. It’s a fantastic arts cafe to watch some great shorts so come down and say hi!

649 Commercial Road, Limehouse, E14 7LW
Screening starts 7pm

Best Of CWFF Screening at CPR

Last night was the penultimate ‘Best Of CWFF’ screening for this year and took place at the really rather special Candid Arts Trust, courtesy of Candid Projection Room (and we don’t mind telling you the guys who run it got together after volunteering for CWFF 08. Yeah, we make things happen).

The whole of Candid Arts Trust is genuinely intriguing. In this line of work you use the phrase “It’s a really great space” a lot, but this space is really great! With several galleries, a very chilled cafĂ© upstairs full of rustic nick-nacks, and a secret garden-esque courtyard to enjoy on sunny days, we’d highly recommend a visit.

Your last chance to see the ‘Best Of CWFF’ for this year will be Friday 26th June at Departure in Limehouse at 7pm. Look out for more news on that very soon.

CWFF Quiz Night A Success

cwff_dummyblog_img02

We’re still getting over last night’s small scale trial of the CWFF Film Quiz, a super-special event planned for CWFF 09. Held in conjunction with the Courvoisier Future 500 network (CVTF500) at The Future Gallery, a fun time was had by all as CWFF tested heads, minds and brains with some quizzical film questions, while Courvoisier provided the illustrious prizes. Big thanks to all who came down and joined in the fun and gave us such positive feedback, and to CVTF500 for hosting the night and providing such gorgeous cocktails.

Photos from the event as well as many other things we’re getting up to will be up on our new Flickr site very soon. And stay tuned for more news about our bigger, better, harder, faster, stronger quiz event at CWFF 09, 3-7 September.

CVTF500 is an exclusive network of rising stars across the UK. It’s a platform for Britain’s brightest talents to connect, share their vision, inspire one another and ultimately collaborate to achieve even greater success…

You can apply to be part of the network and make useful connections with people from any number of industries at their regular events. Visit CVTF500.com for all the info.
