The Canary Wharf Film Festival (CWFF) isn’t just another short film festival in London. It’s a lively, annual event, showcasing international short film in this very new, very different, very inspiring part of the city. We got started doing this in 2007, and since then have expanded to include more international shorts, more venues and more exciting events like Q&As with top directors, filmmaking workshops, and 2009’s exciting Big Film Quiz.

We work with filmmaking talent who have been around the block as well as those just starting out. And seen some success stories too. Adam Smith, director of The Boy With No Name – CWFF 07 ANIMATION SPECIAL MENTION WINNER – was approached to create some work for Orange, after an executive’s daughter had seen and fallen in love with his film at the festival. We like to bridge the gap between the creative and commercial worlds.
We’re also keen to get skills and media training to those who are interested in filmmaking. CWFF08 saw the pilot of the Creative Canary Filmmaking Workshop take off. As a result, this year we are working hard to develop an education programme with a particular focus on younger audiences from the local area.
There’s more happening. Early Aug 09 will see all the updated info hit this website.
