Blue Sky Media

Blue Sky Media, based at the University of East London, produced the following three films as part of an exercise for a Media Master Class.

Regeneration - Stratford City is the largest regeneration programme in the UK powered by 2012. What comes to mind when you think of the Olympics? We put the question to the youth of current Stratford. Filmmakers: Jordan Joseph, Isi Ejele, Kwasi Amoaka

Canary Wharf - Green or Mean? - Concentrating on the lack of green spaces and leisure facilities in the Canary Wharf area. The lack of green spaces is a relative and interesting issue, hence here we see a different spin on a familiar story. Filmmakers: Richard Beale, Charlotte Jones, Chris Peake, William Wren & Tom Stock

Olympics Facilities - The Ins & Outs of Lea Valley. Will 2012 deliver on its promises? As youngsters living in gateway boroughs to the Olympics we focus on a £60 million facility designed to support athletes’ training. Lea Valley Athletics Centre, inaugurated in 2007, now offers both indoor and outdoor training facilities.

Filmmakers: Alex Kolawole, Jessica Matthews, Scott McDonald, Kelly Poutney, Matthew Parker
Creative Canary Workshop

CWFF works with Blue Sky Media Agency and movieScope Magazine this year to create a filmmaking workshop for young people from the East London area - Creative Canary. Over 2 days, they will be based at the Idea Store and learn the essentials of the filmmaking process.

Developed by CWFF festival director Olivia Bellas, there will be top tips from screenwriters, grilling by industry professionals (movieScope, The Wharf, CNN) and then out into Canary Wharf to make their very own documentary. The resulting film will be shown as part of this screening at CWFF08, and one of the participants will receive a Special Achievement prize at this year’s Awards Show.
