FAQ
What is CWFF?
The Canary Wharf Film Festival (CWFF) was established in 2007 to bring creative and commercial minds together, changing preconceived notions of Canary Wharf and highlighting it as London’s newest creative hub. CWFF also aims to open the boundaries of filmmaking as a whole by offering an exciting programme of local, national and international filmmaking talent.
Why Canary Wharf?
Canary Wharf is well known as London’s newest business district, but few people realise there is a burgeoning arts community in the local area. CWFF aims to bolster this artistic growth by drawing filmmakers and film-lovers to this relatively undiscovered, eye-catching part of the city.
How much are tickets? How do I book?
Details will be released online once the programme has been finalised – late July.

How do I submit my film?
There are two ways to submit your film:

This means we have received and logged your details. PayPal will confirm with you when the transaction has been processed. Then mail your submission copy in DVD PAL format with the Reference Number clearly written on the disc, along with film title, running time and director’s name.
You mustn't forget to post us the DVD.

How do I know my submission has been received?
You will receive an email within 6 weeks of the deadline to confirm we have received your submission details and DVD copy.
My film is longer than 15 minutes, can I still enter?
CWFF is primarily a short film festival. To maximise the range of styles and genres we can show, we are keeping all films in our programme to under 15 minutes – including any titles and credits.
WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY FILM OVER 15 MINUTES.
Can I submit a feature to the festival?
While CWFF has shown feature films in the past, these are chosen by the programming team and shown independently of the main shorts in competition, due to its relevance to Canary Wharf and the Docklands area. If you have a feature that you think would be of relevance to us please get in touch and we will consider it, but we cannot guarantee we will choose to show it.
How much do I have to pay?
If submitting your film before the Early Bird deadline of Tuesday 15th April, the submission fee is GBP5. If submitting your film between Wednesday 16th April and Tuesday 10th June, the full submission fee of GBP8 applies.
Payment is in POUNDS STERLING ONLY, payable through PayPal. For international submissions, the exchange rate is set by PayPal and beyond CWFF’s control. You can now also pay by cheque payable to: Canary Wharf Film Festival.
What is the entry fee for?
This year, as with the vast majority of festivals, we have had to ask for an entry fee. We have done all we can to keep this as low as possible to cover essential maintenance costs and we assure you that it all goes back into making CWFF the best it can be.
What if I don’t have 3 stills to accompany my film?
The stills we ask for aren’t a requirement, but they certainly do help. We’d like at least one high-res image to use as they help us promote your film on the website and in CWFF-related publicity (web and print)
When you send your submission DVD, please include the stills on a separate disc.
